Riding a motorcycle means fun, freedom, and acceleration. As well as at the same time riding a motorcycle is risky. Risk increases when an accident happens and you are not wearing appropriate protective gear. In the event of a crash motorcycle gear helps to protect your body from anything bad. When an accident happens wearing motorcycle gear helps to protect from limb loss, skin loss, and serious head injuries. I am mentioning below 5 motorcycle gear that every ride must have.
1. Helmet
A helmet is the most essential element for a motorcycle rider. Invest in a certified helmet that meets (FMVSS) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No-218 with the (DOT) Department Of Transportation sign on the back of the helmet. Select a helmet that is perfectly fitted with your head and face. Any kind of noise more than 85 DB causes trouble to hear and wind can generate up to 115 DB noise which can cause hearing loss. For reducing noise, pick the aerodynamic shape helmet. Different types of helmets can be seen in the market. Among them, the full-faced helmet would be the best selection and investment. I suggest picking a full-face helmet for better protection. It will protect your head, neck, and face in the event of an accident and also protect you from sun and debris. It is rare to find a country where motorcycle helmets are not mandatory for bikers. One of the most sensitive parts of the human body is the head. A minor injury to the head can cause a lot of damage. This can result in mental imbalance and death. If you search, you will find that such events are happening regularly around you so be aware of selecting a good quality and perfectly fitted helmet.
2. Gloves
Select comfortable gloves, well-fitted to the hands, and grip well with the handlebars. Use branded gloves to ensure durability and quality. Select gloves weather-wise. In summer wear gloves that are well-ventilated, allow air to travel easily through the gloves, and do not sweat your hands excessively. In winter and monsoon, select a pair of gloves that are air and waterproof so that hands can be dry and warm and allow better control. Make sure your gloves have wrist closers, padding on the palms, reinforced knuckles, and finger protection.
3. Elbow and Knee guards
I have seen many bikers who have lost their legs or got serious injuries in bike accidents and my friend is one of them who lost his right leg in 2015 when we were used to studying at 10th standard. I have had a couple of bike accidents myself but wearing the right gear saved me every time from major injury. No one always wears this type of gear especially when the destination is short. For a long drive or rush drive use a good quality of elbow and knee guards to ensure more safety.
4. Boots
Select a branded riding boot for better quality and comfort. The ankle boot would be the best selection. This ensures an extra layer of protection that normal boots don’t provide and helps to reduce the risk of shank and ankle fracture. In the event of a crush or jolt, boots are absorbed and distributed impact forces. Riding boots soles are designed to provide excellent grip on all types of surfaces so that when you are at low speed and stopping on a slippery surface it will ensure good grip and traction and prevent accidental slips and falls. Riding boots are designed to ensure proper protection from different weather. Pick the right one according to the season and your feet will thank you.
5. Jacket and vest
Use a good quality leather jacket season-wise. A good quality leather jacket is tough. It creates a better shield rather than the other materials. It will protect your upper body and skin in the event of an accident especially when you are sliding along the road. Vests are also popular as jackets. Vaste is more comfortable than jackets but it will not protect your hands like a jacket does. Some vests come with a gradient color or strap to make you visible easily to the other drivers on the road, especially at night.
Select the right motorcycle gear wisely to protect your body from a major injury.
