A motorcycle is more fun to drive until any unwanted things happen. Every biker wants to ride safely and some very important things must be followed for that.
1. Inspect the motorcycle
When the point is a safe ride, before each ride you should check some important things such as tire pressure, Brakes, Battery, lights, and horns. A flat tire, damaged brake cable, and worn-out brake can be deadly. A bad-conditioned battery can create trouble like a Bike not starting (for the self-start system), Lights not lighting enough and horns not honking properly which might get you into big trouble. To ensure a safe ride check this basic stuff and if there are any errors found fix that immediately.
2. Speed
Control yourself from overspeeding. Whenever I feel like speeding I always keep remembering a thing, It is better to arrive home late than never. Apply it to yourself, trust me it works. Maintain a medium speed of 45-55 for driving. On slippery roads keep it between 35-45. By maintaining a minimum speed limit you will be able to take control of your motorcycle easily and also reduce the chance of an unwanted accident.
3. Braking
A good braking ability ensures good safety. Avoid sudden braking, and be gentle with your brake. Apply the brakes from a safe distance instead of hitting the brakes hard where you want to stop. Follow the correct braking rules while turning and practice emergency braking. In addition, check whether the brake pads are worn, damage cable and brake particles are moving properly.
4. Gear
Wear the right gear according to your driving zone Such as on the highway, off-road, or in seasons like summer, winter, and monsoon. Maintain at least minimum wear like a helmet, a pair of well-gripped gloves, knee and elbow guard, and boots no matter what your riding zone and what the season is.
5. Visibility
Be easily visible to other drivers on the road. Check if your motorcycle’s headlight, tail light, and indicators are lighting properly. To be easily visible to other drivers on the road especially at night, in rain and winter keep your motorcycle headlight on all the time at low beam or if you are in a hurry use emergency indicators. In this kind of weather if you want you can have such types of colored gear that are easily seen from a distance. It also helps to identify your presence on the road to others.
6. Focus on the road
While driving, always keep your eyes on the road to avoid path holes, broken areas, mud, ice, and oil. This can cause serious accidents if you are not careful enough about this kind of stuff.
7. Maintain distance
Always maintain a safe distance from other vehicles or motorcycles while driving or braking. Even if you need to brake suddenly, this distance-maintaining habit will help you a long way in saving you from an accident. To do a better job of maintaining distance use the side mirrors of your motorcycle.
8. Tools and first aid kit
For the long trip, I always suggest carrying a toolbox for small fixes if needed and a first aid kit for ensuring more safety.
By following above mentioned tips you can ensure a safe ride for sure. Invest yourself to be a better driver to save the lives of yourself and others.
