How to become a good motorcycle rider?

A good rider means avoiding any kind of accident whether it is likely to happen by others or by you. While riding your motorcycle, ensure the safety of oneself and others on the road. I’m mentioning some steps that might help you to be a good motorcycle rider.

1. Know about the rules of the road

Maintain the denominative lane of the road. Avoid lane splitting if it is illegal in your country or read your state law before endeavor lane splitting. Avoid red light jumping and maintain the traffic rules and signals properly. Obey and maintain the speed limits. Do not disturb others on the road by honking unnecessarily. Do not litter on the road; it violates the environmental rules and might cause an accident. Place it in your bag and dispose of it in a dustbin.

2. Maintaining a motorcycle

A conscious rider always maintains the good health of his motorcycle. A good-condition motorcycle ensures a safe ride. If you are not servicing your motorcycle on time you will face problems like flat tires, worn-out brakes, damaged cables, rusty loose, and worn-out driving chains, damaged plugs, engine issues, and many more. Maintaining a motorcycle properly is a prerequisite for being a good rider.

3. Controlling

Get comfortable with your motorcycle. Give more attention to the braking and practice as much as possible. A good braking ability ensures good safety. Do not ride too close to any vehicle. Ride your motorcycle to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles on the road. Avoid sudden braking without any reason if you have enough time to brake slowly. Apply brake from a safe distance of your destination. Follow the correct braking rules while turning. Practice emergency braking. Practice braking and control your motorcycle on icy, wet, and muddy roads.

4. Stay focused

While riding do not lose focus from the road and other vehicles. Avoid phone calling and talking to the person sitting on the back while riding. Pay attention to the path hole, broken area, and muddy, icy, and wet road. Distracted riding not only puts your life at risk but also others on the road. Full concentration on the road will help you to react quickly to a stressful moment.

5. Avoid overspeeding

Do not scare others on the road by speeding. Maintain a medium speed limit between 45-60 kilometers per hour. Overspeeding reduces reaction time when it comes to a stop. Also increases stopping distance and the potential to lose control. Weaving on the road is illegal so avoid it. Be decent to your motorcycle and other drivers on the road. A decent speed and drive will help you to take more control of a motorcycle and of course, help you to become a better rider.

6. Drunken drive

drunken driving is an offense. When you get drunk you put other lives at risk including you. Motorcycle riding is fun itself; you don’t need to get drunk to have fun. A careful and good rider never gets under the influence of any sort of drugs before riding.

Recommendation:

No tips and tricks will work until you apply and gain experience. Ride with a better rider so you can learn more and he will point out your riding errors. Riding in a group means sharing more experience and a chance to learn something new. A sign of a good rider is, when he is riding in a group maintains good communication with other riders, gives them space, and is not being influenced to do anything like overspeeding or encouraging them to do something that they are not comfortable with. Always be tolerant of other drivers on the road. Be visible to others on the road by using indicators and the headlight of your motorcycle when needed. Last but not the list, keep yourself safe by wearing the right gear.
