Just imagine it’s an urgent and adverse situation at the same time and you need to start your bike to leave the place or let’s say you are going somewhere and in the middle of the road suddenly your bike stops and not starting for the battery health. It will be the most frustrating situation you have ever faced. To prevent these kinds of situations you need to be concerned about maintaining the battery health.
Follow up the underneath steps-
1. Make sure the battery is dry and clean. If you notice dirt on the battery top, clean it. Dirt may cause resistance to electrical flow.
2. Check out the battery components. Make sure cables are not damaged and perfectly aligned with the battery.
3. Now take a closer look at the battery case for any damage or leakage. For example: When you look at the top of a bolted or water-based battery you may notice some leakage. It could be a sign of overcharging or overheating. For a dust battery sign could be swellheads on the case.
Sign of a damaged battery-
After inspecting the 3 above-mentioned steps you are not finding any issues there and still, the battery is not giving you the desired output which means the battery is damaged.
You will notice a few more signs of a damaged battery such as –
1. Your bike will have trouble starting with (self-start system)
2. headlights, tail lights, and indicators will have trouble glowing enough and the horn will not honk properly. Sometimes you may notice a thing, especially when you are driving at nighttime with a damaged battery. Whenever you increase your motorcycle speed headlight stars glow more and with decreasing speed headlight’s glow also decreases. In that case, to check the battery health go to the local battery repair shop, use the voltmeter, and measure the battery level. It will be good practice to measure the battery level when your bike is on start and when your bike engine is off.
Recommendation for maintaining battery health-
1. If your bike has a kick and self-start system at the same time, the first start of the day always prefers to do a kick start. So that your battery doesn’t get any extra pressure and gets a chance to recharge. After the first start, you can use the self-start button to start the bike for the rest of the day.
2. For the self always try to keep off your headlight or indicators when you are starting your motorcycle.
3. Whenever your bike engine is off for a while or a long time always put your motorcycle key to the off mode. So that when your motorcycle is a standby meter, the headlight, tail light, or indicator will not get any chance to drain the battery.
4. Last but not the chart, if you are not driving your bike every day and start your bike very often the battery will be damaged for sure. To prevent this you can buy an extra charge for charging the battery.
