Signs that your motorcycle needs repair.

Motorcycles are much more handling than buying. When you are more concerned about your motorcycle you can easily identify the problems. It’s the first duty of a motorcycle rider to get familiar with every single part of the motorcycle and service their motorcycle on time. So that you can easily identify and fix the problems before any major damage is done. Here are some following signs to find out if the motorcycle needs to be repaired.

1. Unusual noises

(from brake)- It is relatively easy for a conscious rider to find out any unusual sounds rather than a rider who doesn’t care much about his motorcycle. Unusual noises mainly come from the engine, brakes, and other loose parts or components of the motorcycle.

How do I know where the sounds are coming from?

If there is a squealing or squeaking noise coming after applying the brakes it indicates worn-out brake pads, dirty brakes, and lack of lubrication. Check if the brake pads are worn out, if any dirt is trapped between the brake pad and disk, brake fluid is in the right amount and good condition. If you notice any grinding sound coming out from the brakes that indicates a sticky caliper or stuck wheel cylinder. If your brake rotors get warped it will make a rattling or vibration sound for the uneven contact with the brake pad. Check your motorcycle brakes and fix them according to your needs.

(From engine)- If your motorcycle engine is making an unusual sound you can identify some common problems by hearing the engine sound. For example: if your motorcycle exhaust makes popping or firing sounds it indicates bad engine oil, a clogged fuel injector or carburetor, or a blocked or poor ignition system. If your motorcycle engine is making a knocking sound that indicates internal engine wear, valve tappets adjustments, and low or bad engine oil. If you notice your engine is making a gurgling sound that indicates coolant issues.

(Other components)- If you are noticing rattling noise and it’s not coming from the engine or brakes and you can’t address the actual reason for the sound then take your motorcycle to a good mechanic. Many times it causes loose parts or components of the motorcycle.

2. The difficulty of starting

You can address the starting problem of your motorcycle by some common signs such as battery issues, fuel issues, spark plug, and ignition coil issues. Starting difficulties occur when the engine can not generate enough spark to burn the fuel. If your motorcycle has a battery problem when you push the self-start button the motorcycle will not start for a single time. Because a damaged battery can not generate enough current to the spark plug. It also happens for a faulty kill switch. If your motorcycle is backfiring or misfiring, the sudden engine stops, black smoke comes out through the engine and smells like burning fuel that mainly indicates a faulty spark plug. A faulty or damaged spark plug can not generate sufficient spark for the engine to burn the fuel and in resulting this type of problem occurs. Such problems arise from a damaged air and fuel filter, bad fuel or engine oil, and ignition coil issues. If you are unable to address the issues properly, take your motorcycle to a professional mechanic.

3. Difficulties of handling

If you are facing any difficulties in handling your motorcycle and suddenly your motorcycle starts abnormal behavior like Wobbling, Shaking, turning, and maintaining a straight line. These problems may occur for worn-out tires, high and low tire pressure, misaligned tires, crooked steering and wheel, bad suspension, and loose bolts. Check your motorcycle thoroughly, maintain the right tire pressure, and fix the problem wisely.

4. Losing performance

If your motorcycle is losing its performance and showing symptoms like low mileage, losing power, engine overheating, uneven and unnatural sound, sudden stopping, and black smoke coming out through the exhaust pipe even after the air and fuel filter, spark plug, and engine oil are in good condition. That indicates your motorcycle’s inner engine parts to fix.

5. Leaking issue

If your motorcycle is leaking fluids then address the right spot and fix the problem as soon as possible. When oil and engine fluids leak it starts creating problems like trouble to start, sudden engine stopping, losing power, and overheating. oil leaks for seals, worn out the gasket, and damaged oil pipe. For damaged radiators and hoses engine coolant leaks, which leads to overheating the engine. Brake fluids leak for seals or a damaged brake line. You can easily understand if brake fluids are leaking by hearing squeaking or squealing sounds.

6. Electrical issues

You can easily understand if any electrical issues occur. For example: If your motorcycle speedometer, odometer, and lights are not lit, it means bulbs get fused and wirings are faulty or cracked. If your motorcycle is not starting by pushing the self-start button, or horns are not honking properly, it indicates a battery issue or might be faulty wirings and cracked cables.

Service your motorcycle on time to avoid unwanted issues and by following these steps you can easily address the problem which will help you to take immediate steps to fix the problems before it is too late.
